What to expect

Each hair follicle will have a tiny metal probe inserted by the electrologist. A tiny amount of electrical current will be sent through the metal probe. The hair root will be destroyed and the follicle cauterized by this electrical current. The hair will subsequently be tweezed out by the electrologist. The procedure is carried out one follicle at a time. Your pain threshold will determine whether or not you experience tingling. Following treatment, there can be some swelling, redness, and soreness. The electrologist will provide you post-treatment care instructions before you leave.

How to Prepare for Your Appointment

  • Leave the region untrimmed for a minimum of three days; the hair should be long enough to tweeze, about 1/8 inch or 2 mm.

  • Before your consultation, make sure your skin is clean and consider exfoliating the affected region.

  • Drink water! Avoid drinking alcohol and consuming too much caffeine the day of your visit. Your hair will come out more readily if you're well-hydrated.
